Effective intros --- 1. illustrations or anecdotes 2. facts or stats 3. quotes 4. humor 5. questions 6. references to historical, recent, personal events 7. reference to the occasion, or preceding speeches. Conclusions --- serves two purposes. It will summarize the speech, and provide closure 8. reemphasize central idea in a memorable way 9.
