Islamic Society of Central Florida Orientation of Muslim Culture o They worship God, not Muhammad o Peace through submission to God o The world “Islam” comes from the Arabic root word “slim”, meaning “peace” o Islam is a way of life o Over 1.2 billion o Islam and culture are two different factors in the lives of Muslims o Not everything a Muslim does is motivated by religion o Culture may be different from or even contradicting religion o Allah (God) – Have to believe in 1 god o Angels – We don’t see them, but they see us. 2 angels at all times, one on each shoulder.
