Kelsey Knutsen Music for Listeners Bang. Today’s paper hits the pavement, echoing the gunshots from Chicago’s latest murdering mistress. Roxie Heart was two-timing her husband until she found out that her boyfriend was doing the same to her. After a scuffle in the apartment, confronting each other with the reality of their relationship, Roxie pulls out the gun from her bureau and fires five shots into her boyfriend’s chest. The movie, Chicago, is based off of the Broadway play explaining the story of Roxie Heart. The soundtrack of this film, being as it is a musical, plays a very large role in its production. It helps to portray different emotions and settings while helping to reveal the story line. The film opens with its first number, All That Jazz. Its title helps to describe it. It is a Jazz number full of seduction and sass. It’s slow yet upbeat tempo gives it just enough flare to set the mood for the movie.
