Pre-lab 6: Bacterial Conjugation, Microbes in food, Streak Plate and Gram Stain February 15-17 (To be turned in PRIOR to start of recitation for lab 6) Name: _________TD Khang____________________________________ Objectives: Review the results from last week’s experiment and analyze the results noting coloration, location, and size. Another objective is to isolate bacteria taken from the nasal passage in order to locate infections. Another objective is to perform bacterial conjugation using the F plasmid as an indicator in order to understand genetic exchange between bacteria. The last objective is to determine how microbes enter our food supply and how plentiful are they. Procedure for Effects of washing on the microbial flora of the hand 1. Gram stain a colony from the blood agar post wash plate. 2. Use a sterile inoculating loop to get a single colony from the pre wash blood agar. 3.
