Mikhiale Camacho Medical Terminology October 6, 2011 Essay 1 Chickenpox As a child nothing was worse than feeling sick to your stomach, having a fever, and then days later breaking out in an awful rash that was non stop itching all over your body. These symptoms feel as if you have the flu along with and uncontrollable rash that appears on the skin. The diagnosis is what is known as varicella. During early childhood usually under the age of 12, kids will come across the disease of varicella. Varicella is more commonly known as the chickenpox. Chickenpox is highly contagious the first couple of days that the rash is first seen, but before the blisters occur on the body or surface of the skin. Symptoms are fever, headaches, and a stomachache. Though this disease is mild, serious complications may occur but are treatable. It rare this may become severe, but when it does serious bacteria infections such as encephalitis will occur. It may also lead to transient arthritis, pneumonia, myocarditis, and Reye’s
