Master of Arts in Economics The Master of Arts M.A. in Economics prepares economists for careers in business and public service or for further graduate study in economics. The program contains a sufficient amount of quantitative work to enable students to acquire meaningful research skills. Also, students may select an interdisciplinary program that allows them to take courses in other areas of study, such as business, public administration, or other social science fields. For mathematically inclined students, we can facilitate a dual M.A. in Economics/M.S. in Applied Statistics Program in conjunction with the Applied Statistics Department. Why the M.A. Program in Economics at BGSU? The M.A. program in Economics has undergone change in recent years. It now emphasizes policy applications of economic theory so that students develop skills that are useful in both the public and private sectors. The course work is designed so that the well-prepared student can complete the degree in one calendar year.
