The ISM student chapter had a very eventful se- mester. They participated in a plant tour of the Cleveland Clinic and met with Mr. Bill Donato, Ex- ecutive Director, and Ms. Christine Foley, Direc- tor Supply Chain Management. The ISM students volunteered at the Halloween Folklore & Fun- fest as community service at the Wood County Historical Center, and raised over $200 at the an- nual Poppin’ George’s Kettle Corn fundraiser. On November 30th, 2010, the fourth annual Pass- port to Entertainment event was held by IBA. They had a variety of performances, including Scottish and Ethiopian dances and served an Italian din- ner. The keynote speaker, Todd Moore from the Scotts Miracle Grow Company shared of his inter- national experiences. Looking ahead, they will be traveling to Chicago this spring to visit various international businesses and the Stock Exchange Building. 2010 2011, Issue #1 International Business Association Department of Management BGSU APICS The APICS chapter was also very busy last se- mester. Five students traveled to Las Vegas for the APICS International Conference three as part of the E&R Foundation Scholars program. On September 29 th they hosted the APICS Toledo for our joint SCMI dinner meeting and in November, they jointly sponsored an etiquette dinner and presentation with ISM. Most recently, a team of APICS representatives traveled to Pittsburgh to compete in the Mid Atlantic District case competi- tion on the 11 th of February. Moving forward, a team of APICS representatives are set to compete in the Great Lakes District case competition on February 25 th in Chicago. Society of Human Resources Last semester, the Society of Human Resource Management brought in the internationally ac- claimed flutist Nina Assimakopoulos to present on the integration of music and human resources. Various other events were held as well, including "SHRM Goes to the Movies" in October 2010 and a resume workshop in November 2010. They also were recipients of the 2009-2010 SHRM Superior Merit Award. This spring, the Society for Human Resource Management and the Management Spe- cialization co-hosted the "Career Talk: What They Want" on February 7, 2011. There were repre- sentatives from Target, Sherwin-Williams, and the BGSU Career Center. On March 31, 2011, they will be co-hosting a meeting with APICS, SCMI, and IBA a meeting. Institute for Supply Management Message from the Chair It has been a great academic year thus far. The Department of Management began the fall 2010 se- mester with a faculty, staff & student lunch in the CBA Hub. Our activities during the fall continued to be student focused with an emphasis on connecting with business professionals through plant visits, speaker meetings, and other events. Events for spring 2011 are off to a great start with the SCMI din- ner meeting as well as the Management Specialization & SHRM meeting with students, the Career Center and business professionals.
