Article Review: Beyond Compliance Article Review: Beyond Compliance: Globalization Demands More Effective Programs Business ethics is one of the most important aspects of a business in my opinion. Business ethics is considered to extend far beyond the walls of a business. It encompasses the relationship of the organization to the community and its social responsibility. Kirk O. Hanson, executive director of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, delivered this talk at the "Rule of Law and International Business Ethics" in Beijing, Oct. 22, 2011. In this prolific talk he addressed the issue of having global standards in this forever changing, always advancing global market. Mr. Hanson’s video/article outlines or presents current state of organizations in respect to developing effective programs that would assist organizations with not only complying, verbally but physically, showing that they are working towards an effective global standard. Mr. Hanson was speaking and writing this article to a group at the Rule of Law and International Ethics seminar in Beijing. His purpose for sharing such information was due to the growing globalization of businesses and business operations, which changes the requirements for effective management of corporate behavior in response to public and governmental expectations. Hanson pointed out that there are three phases to creating and developing a standard rule for global behavior and that we are in the third phase of this task.
