How to Succeed in this Course Advice from Dr. Klein 1. Read the syllabus! Every semester I talk with students who have unnecessarily put themselves at a disadvantage by not knowing basic information about deadlines, testing policies, or resources available to students. If you have any questions after reading the syllabus, get answers right away. 2. Apply the class material outside of the classroom. You are exposed to marketing every day – products, packages, distribution channels, promotion, and prices. Do you see a marketing example that seems effective or ineffective or just interesting? What concept from the course does it illustrate? Why did the marketer make that choice? Get in the habit of thinking about what you experience in the marketplace. Not only will it teach you more about marketing, it will help you with application questions on exams and also help you find a great example for the Application Exercise. 3.
