From its discovery and throughout the years, Stem Cell Research has been debated upon several times by many politicians and political factions due to its benefits and controversial issues, mainly the use of embryonic stem cells for stem cell research. To further understand the politics that surrounds stem cell research, we must look back at the political history of stem cell research. It all started in 1981 , when the first embryonic stem cell researches were limited among mice and were headed by two scientists, Gail Martin from The University of California, and Martin Evan s who worked for the University of Cambridge that time. In November 1995 , the possibility of deriving stem cells from primates including humans was proven, after researchers from the University of Wisconsin were able to conduct their studies on macaque monkeys. On the 5 th of November 1998 , researchers from the University of Wisconsin and John Hopkins University were isolating stem cell research from human embryonic stem cells. Found to be potential in becoming any type of cell in the human body, they were believed to be used someday to replace damaged and cancerous cells. The process
