Class Purpose
• Students will learn to use the Matlab software package and
programming language
• Students will become comfortable with using computer
programming to solve engineering problems
• Why Matlab?
– Builtin libraries for data processing, engineering, calc, linear algebra
– Image processing capabilities
– Used very frequently in academia and industry
• Accomplishing these goals requires that all students actively
USE Matlab throughout the course

• One Lecture per week
– Introduce concepts
– Give initial examples
• One Recitation per week
– Review concepts
– Give more examples
– Allow students to work in teams of 23 to complete practice problems
