EXP 3604 Assignment #2 Due: By November 28, 2011 (1:55 PM) Overview This assignment is an exercise that requires you to design an experiment on sentence comprehension. You will develop a hypothesis, collect data from several participants, and interpret the results. You will complete a "mini" report on your experiment that will consist of your hypothesis, materials and procedure, results, and discussion. The purpose is to give you a first-hand look at the research process, so have fun! Several years ago, an email was going around that instructed people to read this sentence: " It deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae ." The email claimed that most people can read this sentence relatively easily, which says: "It doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place." Although this may be true, the claim is not based in any research (that I know of), so you are going to design an experiment relevant to this claim: that we can always easily comprehend words in sentences if the first and last letters are kept in their correct positions and the intervening letters are rearranged. Select an independent variable that you think might influence the ability to comprehend words
