Reaction time (RT) task: Measures the time between stimulus presentation and person’s response Stimulus presentation = a light Response = pressing a button While mental responses cannot be measured directly, they can be inferred from behavior Simple RT = time to perceive light Choice RT = time to perceive light + time to decide which button to push Results: Time to make a decision = Choice RT – Simple RT
