Nathan Mazurenko Economics 104 Ann Werbof December 5, 2007 America's Encouraging Third Quarter I chose to write about the article " US Economic Growth Revised up to 4.9 Percent In 3Q " by Rob Lever. The article is about the US economy surging 4.9 percent despite the real estate problems and the poor credit. The expansion was at the fastest pace in four years because of the weak dollar and increased business inventories. The article then says that as an economy we are headed towards a slow quarter due to the depressed housing market and the tight credit and that the Federal Reserve has already cut interest by three quarters of a point in anticipation of the impending recession. Also the economists beleive that the inventories, which provided a big boost for the third quarter economy, would likely not be as positive in the upcoming quarters. A bright spot for the economy in upcoming quarters is that exports are increasing. Exports increased from 16.2 percent to 18.9 percent because the weakened dollar makes exports seem more
