Chem 115 Fall, 2006 Assignment 2 Reading Assignment Complete reading Chapter 2, then read Chapter 3 in Brown, LeMay, and Bursten Toward the end of Chapter 2 we will be discussing the periodic table and nomenclature (naming compounds). Be sure you get copies of the following handouts from the web site: "Acid Names," "Monatomic Ions," "Nomenclature," "Periodic Table Definitions," "Polyatomic Ions." Be sure to learn the names, formulas, and charges of both monatomic and polyatomic ions, and know how to put them together in forming ionic compounds. Either from the book or from the handout, "Nomenclature," be able to name both molecular and ionic compounds, and be able to write molecular or empirical formulas from names. Homework Assignment Do as many of the following problems as possible.
