Objects ~There are several different types of object in MATLAB, but the ones we’re primarily concerned with will ‘text’ objects and ‘patch’ or ‘fill’ objects. ~An object is graphical image created within the axes of a figure window.

For example, the code: x=[0 1 1 0]; y=[0 0 1 1]; patch(x,y, 'r' ) Generates an object (a square) created by the input x and y data points, and makes it the color red.

The addition of the line: text(.3,.5, 'Red Square' ) Adds a text object at a given (x,y) location.

Patch and Text So, to create these two objects the commands are, respectively: patch(x_data,y_data, ’color’ ) text(x_location,y_location, ’whatever text’ )

What if I want to Change and Object? For that, we use handles. When an object is created, MATLAB assigns it to a specific handle, which is just a numerical value that MATLAB identifies the object as. If we create an object as we did before, by just calling the function, however, we have no way of knowing an objects assigned handle.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
