MFET 248, Lab #7 page 1 of 4 MFET 248 Laboratory Assignment #7 Spring 2010 Using Reference Frames Objectives: In this assignment you will learn how to perform the following operations with the Fanuc robot: Create a jog frame and then jog the robot relative to the new jog frame. Create a user frame and then create points relative to the new user frame. Edit the user frame (not the points) in the event that the fixture’s position changes. Background: It is assumed to you completed the following assignments: Introduction to the Fanuc Robot, Part 1 Introduction to the Fanuc Robot, Part 2 In this assignment we will use the Fanuc robots located at droplines 1, 3, and 4. Phase 1 – Using a Jog Frame: 1) Using the right hand rule, determine your robot’s theoretical +X, +Y, and +Z directions. 2) Based on the right hand rule, document what you think the +X, +Y, and +Z directions are by sketching the +X, +Y, and +Z directions on a piece of paper. Place the paper in the robot’s work cell and use it as a reference. 3) Using the WORLD coordinate system, prove that your calculated +X, +Y, and +Z directions are correct. *** Demonstrate your work to your Instructor ***
