Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is a 5,000-year-old authentic system of yoga exercise and meditation that promotes health, happiness, and spiritual awareness. Combining breathing, movement, stretching, and sound, Kundalini Yoga is a safe, comprehensive technology that can be practiced by everyone. Along with healthful living, practicing Kundalini Yoga keeps the body in shape, increases vitality, and trains the mind to be strong and flexible in the face of stress and change. It balances the glandular system, strengthens the nervous system, and enhances the creative potential. Through yogic breathing techniques and meditation, peace of mind can be obtained, giving an experience of deep inner calm and self-confidence. Because Kundalini Yoga develops the total person, practitioners also become more intuitive and more sensitive within the shortest possible time. Course Content: Each class will include the following: 1. Pranayama--breath work 2. Mudras--hand postures 3. Asanas—body positions 4. Kriyas—sets of exercises 5. Mental focus 6. Mantras--chants 7. Relaxation 8. Meditation Course Prerequisite(s): No Prerequisites. Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course, students will demonstrate ability to: Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental principles and practices of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Perform the postures (asanas), movements, mudras, bhandas safely and understand their benefits. Perform various breathing techniques and understand their benefits Demonstrate an understanding of the Chakras and Energy Centers Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of meditation and its relation to the mind Develop a personal yoga practice that includes: pranayama, mudras, kriyas, mantras, relaxation and meditation Understand & Experience the 7 Steps to Happiness ~~ Commitment, Character, Dignity, Divinity, Grace, Power to Sacrifice and Happiness. 1

Required Course Materials: a blanket, large towel or mat to sit on shawl/ light blanket to cover body during deep relaxation when the body temperature drops after the exercise portion of the class loose clothing bare feet during the class Bottled water Special Note : If you are a smoker please wear freshly washed clothes you have not smoked in for class and also please refrain from wearing any perfume to class.
