SUBSISTENCE AND DIET Archaeologists reconstruct ancient lifeways from the surviving material remains of subsistence activities, which come in many forms. The perspective is multidisciplinary, for we rely on the expertise of scientists from many other fields, among them botanists, ecologists, and zoologists.
