Business Management 361 Syllabus Winter 2011 3:30 – 4:45 pm W308 TNRB Course Description : Supply chain management addresses many issues of importance to today’s managers. These issues include strategic concerns such as competitiveness, the globalized economy, productivity, quality, technology, product and service design, and employee motivation. Supply chain management stresses problem solving to improve managerial decision-making. However, this course is much more than simply utilizing quantitative methods to solve business problems. Emphasis will also be given to applying concepts, discussing theory, and addressing behavioral issues in management. Instructor: Paul Terry E-mail: paul.terry@octanner.com Conference Hours: Monday 4:45-5:15 pm (Immediately following class) Required Texts : Operations and Supply Management: The Core by Jacobs and Chase, 1 st Edition ISBN: 978-0-07-340330-4 Grading : Participation: 300 pts. (class, in-class Exercises) Quizzes: 100 pts. Team Performance 250 pts. (un-presentations, cases, gems, SC sim, other assignments) Exam 1: 250 pts. Exam 2: 300 pts. Exam 3: 200 pts. Total: 1400 pts . Grades may or may not be curved in the end at the discretion of the instructor. BYU policy states that the final average grade for this course should not exceed 3.4. All assignment due dates are firm. No late assignments will be accepted.
