Course Description Business Management 475, Financing New Ventures, will cover several topics involved in  starting, funding and analyzing potential ventures.  Various quantitative and qualititative topics  will be covered over the course of the semester that will provide the student with an introduction  to the world of entrepreneurship, investments, private equity and deal analysis.   Students will be immersed in the latest concepts, skills, know-how, information, attitudes and  alternatives that are relevant for entrepreneurs, managers, investors and relevant stakeholders.  It   is   a   complex   course   with   three   fundamental   objectives.     The   first   is   to   teach   future  entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial managers to use the entrepreneurial perspective in order to  make better decisions, and thereby influence positively one’s odds for success and minimize the  odds of blunder.  The expectation is that you will enhance your capacity to envision, anticipate  and orchestrate what must happen in order for you to succeed.  The second aim is to teach  effective   entrepreneurial   and   general   management   practices   from   the   perspectives   of   the  founder and the vital stakeholders that can make a substantial difference in the ultimate success  or failure of the entrepreneurial process.  The third objective is to learn how to analyze business  opportunities and how to develop them into investment grade businesses. This course will introduce you to the following topics: Company formation Sources of financing Equity and debt Structuring a deal Screening and analyzing deals
