ChE 311 - Fall 2010 Homework 1.1 Due Friday, September 3 Name_________________________________ Complete the following Ethics Inventory. Be prepared to justify your responses. Strongly Agree Agree Undecided Disagree Strongly Disagree What’s right depends on the culture you are in. No one has the right to judge what’s right or wrong for another person. No one has the right to intervene when he or she thinks someone else has done something morally/ethically wrong. It’s hopeless to try to arrive at a final answer to ethical questions. Ultimately, there is one and only one right standard of moral/ethical evaluation. What is right depends on what God says is right. All major religions have something important to tell us about what is right and what is wrong. We do not need to depend on religions in order to have a solid foundation for our ethical lives. Everyone is just out for himself or herself. Some people think that they are genuinely concerned about the welfare of others, but they are just deceiving themselves.
