Dani Golub 5 December 2011 Hebrew 101 Haya Yutchman Essay on Israeli Culture Day Presentations One of my favorite parts of Hebrew 101 has been the Israeli Culture days. As someone who loves Israel, I find it so interesting to learn about different Israeli topics. It is always fun and surprising to see what my classmates will teach us about. The first Israeli culture day was presented by Melanie and Kelsey. They spoke about Famous Israelis. They first spoke about Dan Schechtman. He was born in 1941 Tel Aviv. He teaches at the Israel Institute of Technology. He won a Nobel Peace Prize for discovering quasicrystals. He is only the 10 th Israeli Nobel Prize winner. Dan is an innovative researcher/discoverer. His products are currently used in razors and electricity. The next person they spoke about was Gene Simmons. He was born in Haifa in 1949. His mother survived the Holocaust concentration camps because of hair styling. Gene founded band KISS 38 years ago in 1973 in New York. Came to America when he was 8 years old. He has his own publishing company, record label, and marketing company. He is fluent in Hungarian, Hebrew, English, Turkish, and Spanish. The last person they spoke about was Itzhak Pearlman. He was born in Tel Aviv in 1945. He is a violinist and conductor. He survived Polio, and now walks with crutches. He moved to US to study at Julliard. He performed his first recital at age 10. He is a well known as a solo artist, but he also performed with other famous artists. He played on scores for “Schindler’s List” and “Memoirs of a Geisha.” I liked their project a lot. They could
