Carly Geller 2/6/12 Section 303 Reaction #3 In this weeks reading, “why bother?” or “what’s the point” struck me as a prominent theme. “Why bother?” becomes a valid and very concerning question since it is quite apparent that we have the education about the world’s environmental issues, though nothing seems to get changed or improved. As What is Education For? states, “The plain fact is that the planet does not need more successful people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind.” (12) In our world, we have those who are educated as well as those who are educated with enough money to take action towards saving the world. Sadly, most of these people fail to put their money in the right places and do not take action for the good of the planet. It also becomes quite concerning that though we are getting educated in school about environmental issues, what exactly are the messages that the students are taking from the teaching? As
