Carly Geller 12/2/11 Aaron Dowdall CA100 Nanny Cooking for a family of 15 is no big deal to her. Sewing the dresses for each of her daughters’ wedding parties is a breeze. My grandmother, Nanny as we call her, is a woman of many traits and talents. In her life, she has overcome immense obstacles through which, giving up was never an option. Coming from a small town in Czechoslovakia, my Nanny is very cultured and continues to hold her European traditions close to her heart. She is able to do this through her European cooking as well as her fluency in five languages. However, what stands out the most from Nanny’s incredible life’s journey is her motivation to never give up through the unimaginable hardships that she has faced, her role as the “backbone” and supporter to my family, as well as her amazing talents. Up until the age of 13, my grandmother lived a comfortable life in Czechoslovakia. My grandmother’s parents and three sisters ran a successful business and they were very well known and well-liked in their small town called Yassina. Then,
