Carly Geller 12/9/11 Aaron Dowdall CA100 Commemorative Speech Self Assessment In my commemorative speech on my grandmother, there were aspects that I was pleased with; however, there were parts of my speech that I could have improved. This being my last speech, I noticed that I was a lot more comfortable at the podium than I was for my very first speech. I feel that I have come a long way from my very first day in Communicative Arts 100. As I do for each speech, I took into consideration what my suggestions for improvement were. I also reread the comments that my TA as well as my classmates have made about me from my past speeches. Overall, I was happy with how the writing of the speech came out. Unfortunately, I think I could have prepared a bit more and delivered it more fluently. As for my speech’s organization and writing techniques, I believe I did a great job. I was sure to use language devices such as concrete words, similes, metaphors, and assimilation. I was especially proud of the comparison of my grandmother to a
