Business Communication Questionnaire – 50 Points Name: __Alexandria Hilliard__________ Course/Sec#_ Bus Com 201 Sec 004____ 1. What are the main challenges facing business communicators today? The main challenges that face business communicators today are “grapevines” in the workplace. Employees also try to use slang to sound cool thinking it might impress their employer, when it can actually make the employer think less of them. Another challenge facing business communications today is the fact that employees have multiple ways of communicating not in person and about the company and employees not finding out about it. 2. List five trends in the workplace that affect business communicators? How might they affect you in your career? Things being talked about through the “grapevine” has become a trend in the workplace and in most cases it is negative although it can be used positively when needed. Another workplace trend is stereotyping. Employees might stereotype someone who just got hired on because of how they look or what type of culture they were raised around. Another trend that can affect business communicators is body language, when an employee is slouching in a meeting and doodling instead of taking notes it shows they are not interested in what is going on. 3. Name five unprofessional communication techniques that can sabotage a career.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
