4 In MRP, a finished product is called an end item. Each end item is built with items (components, subassemblies) Demand for end items is from customer orders, forecasts, etc. and is called independent demand. Example: Producing 100 X needs 100 square tops, 400 legs. Building 50 Y needs 50 round tops, 150 legs. X Y We want to assemble two end items: X and Y The demand for items is dependent on end item demand.
