While searching for scholarly articles pertaining to how media coverage of important people and events has become much more prudent over the last several decades I found several sources involving the degree that the Bill Clinton Monica Lewinsky sex scandal was taken out of control by the mass media during the Presidents second term in office. One article I found very interesting was “Anonymous White House sources: how they shaped the television news coverage of the Bill Clinton – Monica Lewinsky investigation” by Steven A. Esposito of “Communications and the Law”. In this article Esposito talks about how Bill Clinton’s White House staff used the low level of credibility of the tabloid news paper “Starr Magazine”, and their anonymous sources, to portray the President as innocent and truthful. Anonymous attribution is “…defined as information attributed to an unnamed individual or unnamed individuals” (p5), or a non disclosure from the source presenting to the news media. Even
