1Wk 4 Discussion PostTask groups are defined as existing to achieve specific objects or tasks, while support groups are focused on the emotional and social needs of their members (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2018). Support groups are for the benefit of its participants. Two examples of support groups are Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). There are also groups for members that have lost a loved one recently and function as support for those who are grieving. There's group therapy that may be inpatient or outpatient, or even educational groups. A few examples of task groups are board of trustees/directors, committees, or legislative bodies. I'm apart of an education and scholarship workgroup at my current employer, a health sciences university. The focus of our is to develop goals aligned with the three pillars in our strategic plan, which aims to improve the university for staff, faculty, and students.
