Brian Lau English 200 D Andrew McNair 4-04-07 Reading Response #3 Considering what happened so far (I’ve only read up to Chapter Five) I would say the book is pretty interesting; the latter part of it anyways. I was a little bit confused about all the new terminology in the beginning of the book. There were terms such as Quakers, Elm, Native Indians and I guess it was just hard to piece everything together. It started making sense when Edgar arrived at his uncle’s habitation when a guy named Ambrose and Clithero had to sleep in the same bed. It was interesting because there was quite a bit of suspense considering the Charles Brockden Brown named the book “Memoirs of a Sleep-Walker” and the man Clithero has been noticed missing from his bed during the middle of the night. In my opinion I think the author; Charles Brockden Brown has a very unique style of writing in the sense that he illustrates his ideas and points with very minute details and high use of literary elements such as metaphors, etc. Also, he tends to have a very large vocabulary and
