Pseudo Code Mini Lesson Fall 2010 NOTE: Pseudo code should be completed before coding starts. Simple Pseudo code Rules: 1. All statements are written as sentence. 2. Use the verbs listed below to create your pseudo code. 3. Make sure pseudo code is language neutral (pseudo code can be used with equal success by COBOL programmer or VB programmer. 4. No variable declarations. Use unique variable names but there is no need to declare them before they are used. 5. Pseudo code is designed to be read sequential - top / bottom, and then left/right (just like reading a book). 6. All program logic should have pseudo code. Command buttons and menu options are excellent places to look for places in your program that will use logic and need pseudo code. Verb Function / Operation display Output to screen print Output to printer prompt Display a prompt and store into a variable if / then / else / end if Control decision structure while / end loop
