1. Who are the firm’s auditors? Do they provide a clean opinion on the financial statements? “Microsoft’s independent auditor, Deloitte & Touche LLP (“Deloitte & Touche”), is responsible for performing an independent audit of the consolidated financial statements and expressing an opinion on the conformity of those financial statements with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States.” (Microsoft.com) For fiscal year 2011, the independent auditor was also responsible for expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of our internal control over financial reporting.
