Lecture 02-27 SIDE NOTE: President- The guy in the chair, the individual Presidency- aka Executive Branch of government, the institution Competitive advisor COLLEGIAL SYSTEM- you don’t have to manage every situation, but it’s more about managing people than policy THE INSTITUTION INSTITUTION IS ORGANIZED BY FUNCTION FOR EXECUTING THE LAW STRICTLY SPEAKING, THE BUREAUCRACY IS PART OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE PRESIDENCY IS ORGANIZED TO COORDINATE POLICYMAKING ACROSS THE MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF GOVERNMENT THIS IS REFLECED NOT ONLY IN THE BUDGET OF THE US BUT ALSO IN THE SUBSTANTIVE POLICY AREAS (WE HAVE NOT BEEN MAKING THE VP DOES AS MUCH OR LITTLE AS PRESIDENT DESIRES (SAME W/ FIRST LADY) WHITE HOUSE STAFF INCLUDES: CHIEF OF STAFF, CONGRESSIONAL
