The hydraulic fluid is SAE 10W oil having a specific gravity of SG = 0.92 and a viscosity of μ = 0.018 kg/(m.s). A control valve consists of a piston 25 mm in diameter, fitted to a cylinder with a mean radial clearance of 0.005 mm. Determine the leakage flow rate if the gage pressure on the low- pressure side of the piston is 1.0 MPa. (The piston is 15 mm long.) Hint : Since the gap (or clearance) width between cylinders is very small, so the flow may be modeled as flow between two parallel plates . Figure 1 2.
