2 ABSTRACT This paper is written to discuss whether government intervention is key to turning our failing economy around and making it healthy again.

3 Government Intervention In America today we have noticed a major melt down of what used to be a very stable economy. In the Clinton administration we bought into the communications market, which substantially boosted our economy into being one of the worlds leaders in technology. We have come a long way from the brick phones that used to take up our passenger seats in our cars to mobile devices that are smaller than a compact of makeup. This was a great move to becoming a leader in the marketing world, however in 2007 the economy crashed, and has sent the world into shock since then. Many companies have needed government bailouts such as General Motors, and many more car companies. This was a massive wake up call to our nation. The Troubled Asset Relief Program was created for government bailouts, but the issue we face is the morality and ethics of whether or not the government should have their hands in failing businesses or to focus on what is truly theirs. The Troubled Asset Relief Program otherwise known as TARP was created to curb the financial crisis we faced and have been facing since 2007. TARP gives the U.S. Treasury the budget of $700 billion to buy mortgage-backed securities from companies
