3 Internal Search Many companies and organizations have the mindset of hiring within their companies. This is advantageous to people who work there, because they never really have to worry about the competition that comes in from the outside. Though this is a very appealing system to many people in the world, it has its disadvantages as well. In the book, it talks about a company that hires from within, which is McDonalds (Fundamentals of Human Resource Management, 2010). Another company or organization that I am familiar with that hires from within is the government system for civilians and MilTechs. Here are some advantages and disadvantages of why these companies succeed and why they fail in certain areas. In business recruiting internally is something that large chains and corporations take pride in. Some of the advantages are rewarding good work of current employees, cost effectiveness, maintaining morale, and assessing past work performances is made easier (Advantages and Disadvantages of Internal vs. External Recruiting Sources, 2008). For these reasons companies look inside the system for promotions because they “know”
