Paper or Plastic The dilemma of paper and plastic bags is something I deal with every time I go to any grocery store. The first thing they ask when you go through the line they ask, “paper or plastic” and I am left with the final decision of what to do. Do I used paper bags which are supposedly better for the planet but yet give off a toxic gas when burning them, or do I choose a plastic bag that takes decades to break down to something that will not make a barrier of plastic in the landfill? I used to use the paper bags to carry all my groceries home but now I pay for one of the reusable nylon bags when I go to the store and I can feel better that I doing my part to save the planet I call home. There are stores that don’t offer bags for customers and if you want a bag you are required to pay for them or they have boxes that are set aside in bins for you to use that products were removed from when stocking the shelves (ex. Sam’s club, Aldi, and Save-a-Lot). I think that this is a great way to get people recycling, although most stores only charge ten
