Population and Food Immigration is an issue that people are very passionate about. There are people who are on both sides of the controversy and each side believes that they are correct in their arguments. The article from the Washington Times is pressing the side of what types of debts are caused by the illegal immigrants that are in the country. It states how the immigration problem cost US taxpayers billions of dollars per year and where we are being hit the most with this issue. Crain’s Chicago Business goes into the useful side of the immigrants being in this country stating that “they fill critical low-wage labor needs.” (Hoyt, 2004) Illegal immigration is a burden to the nation and that something must be done to reduce the issue or possibly even stop it. The issue of illegal immigration hurts the economy because the taxpayer money goes towards multiple things that would not be necessary if the immigrant population were not as large as it is for example, education costs, low cost housing, medical support, and other government services.
