ISSUE 240 Few problems on the American scene have caused so much concern and widespread public anxiety as does the dispute over pros and cons of modern technology. Is luxuries and conveniences of contemporary life brought about by advanced science actually, as the author maintains, prevent people from developing into truly strong and independent people? Coincident with the opinion of author is my heartfelt agreement with the idea that as people rely more and more on technology to settle down problems, the ability to analyze, the ability to think for themselves, the ability to get original and innovative ideas will surely deteriorate. Granted, advancement in technologies and the resultant improving of productivity do promote our living standards, which should also be addressed. The chief reason why I generally vote for the statement has to do with the intolerable rushed peace of human affairs attributed to the improving efficiency, one trouble makes us frantic than ever in the course of life. It is now common to Feel like you're always rushing but never catching up; Are you doing more, but enjoying it less? A recent survey can back this point up. The survey, conducted by The Chinese Labour Force department, after polling millions of workers in different positions, has
