ARH 4930: Early Greek Art: Bronze Age through Archaic Dr. Barbara Barletta T 6, R 6-7 Office: FAC 117/273-3064 Syllabus, Spring 2012 (dates approximate) Office Hrs. T 7/R 8 Course Description: This course provides an introduction to the art and architecture of the Greek world from the Bronze Age through the Archaic Period (ca. 480 B.C.E.). It aims to familiarize students with the major monuments, as well as the problems, associated with each period. Historical developments and the writings of ancient authors will be cited in order to set the art in its proper context. Class discussions of secondary materials will be included regularly.
