Amazon.com is a highly successful online business, making its debut in 1995 mainly as a site to sell books. Over several years, Amazon was able to incorporate house wares, apparel, and multiple other items into its listings. Amazon.com became a publicly traded company in 1997, with 300 million shares of common stock and in late 1997 was the first online retail to reach one million customers. Despite the dot com bust during 2001 and beyond, amazon.com managed to stay afloat due to Bezo’s forethought to contract with box stores like Target, Toys R Us, Circuit City, and sell for them. Amazon.com has pictures and detailed information on each product it sales, and most of the ones sold by its affiliates such as Amazon market place. Amazon.com also provides details on their Prime membership and shipping special offers. Amazon.com has links to eight sites for different countries in the world; each has the local language and items for sell in that fit that market. Amazon.com also has links to their different branches and affiliates in an easy to find location on the bottom of any page. In order to contact the company directly however you have to go through several links to find what you want. It is very difficult to get to the company themselves, unless you are trying to sell through them, partner with them or use their site as a
