You will discover that HR has the difficult task of discriminating on the basis of job requirements and qualifications while ensuring that illegal discrimination does not occur. Consider the vast legal framework for equal employment currently established within the United States. Now think of the issues you, as an HR manager, would be involved with if your organization had global operations that must meet different sets of requirements for each government. Learning Outcomes By the end of this week, you will be able to: Differentiate among diversity management, equal employment opportunity (EEO), and affirmative action Discuss the key provisions of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII, and define five basic EEO concepts Discuss the major requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act Describe the two types of sexual harassment and how employees should respond to complaints Explain how reasonable accommodation is made when managing individuals with disabilities and differing religious beliefs Reading Course Text: Human Resource Management Chapter 3, "Equal Employment Opportunity" In this chapter, you will examine the nature of equal employment opportunity (EEO) and the four basic EEO concepts. You will also examine the major equal employment laws and the impact each creates on the management of human resources within an organization. Finally, you will obtain an overview of the various EEO enforcement agencies, EEO compliance requirements, and the EEO compliance investigation process. <p< font=""> Focus on the definitions provided throughout the chapter.
