REE 6930 Extra Credit Lecture Form Your Name:_____________ _________________ Video Lecture:___________Robert Carmichael___________ Paragraph summary of the lecture: Robert Carmichael lectures about “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” with respect to the economy and Commercial Real Estate (CRE). He says the “good” is that the economy is finally starting to stabilize and he is actually predicting some minor growth in GDP. The “bad” is the possibility of a double dip recession and that there are no signs of job growth in the near future. He also predicts that consumers will continue to save instead of spend their money. Carmichael defines the “ugly” to be that demand for CRE is at all-time lows and that job growth will be necessary before we see any sort of recovery. Also, there is still a lot of capital and demand distress. He goes on to say that CRE faces some major challenges over the next 3-5 years. Therefore, there is a need to develop a workout strategy.
