Word processing programs allow many different types of formatting which is the manipulation of text to change its appearance at the word, paragraph, or document level. Many word processing programs include text, paragraph, and document formatting. Text formatting features include the ability to change the font type, size, color, and style such as bold, italic, or underlined. A user can also adjust the leading the space between lines and kerning which is the amount of space that appears between letters.
