Introduction In this lab the electric field was “mapped “ by determining the electric force on a test charge at various points around a charge configuration. Then the the lines of force are used to visualize the magnitude and direction of the electric field. The purpose of this lab is to experimentally map the positions of equipotential surfaces on two field maps. After locating these surfaces, electric fields lines will be constructed to reveal two electric field configurations Procedure Equipments Used Electric field mapper apparatus Galvanometer Graph paper DC power supply ( battery) with wire connectors Connecting the Equipments together During the lab first, the voltage of the DC power supply was set to 8.0 V. Then the power supply was connected to the terminals of the field mapper. After that one side of the galvanometer is connected to the probe and the other side will be connected to the resistance points on the mapper one after the other to get the field lines.
