Introduction The objective of this lab was to Prove that the time it takes for the voltage of a battery to be reduced by half is independent of the initial voltage. Understand the relationship of a capacitor and a resistor. Procedure Equipments A resistor with 22 megohm resistance/ potentiometer DMM 1µF capacitor 45 V battery Capacitance meter Stop watch First the 22M resistor and the 1µF capacitor are measured using the DMM and the capacitor meter. Then the DMM, the resistor, the 45V battery are connected in series. After that the connection to one of the battery terminals were broken and the time it took for the capacitor to slowly discharge by half were measured using the stop watch. And this measurement was taken for about 20 times. Data/Results Internal resistance of DMM = 10M Measured resistance 21.30M Measured Capacitance 0.991µF Voltage (DMM) 13.94V Starting Voltage (V) time Starting Voltage (V) time 13.94 0 5.53 30 13.02 3 4.98 33 11.89 6 4.48 36
