Exercise 3, page 286 For immigrants IMMIGRATE to a different country, learning English is a problem that they will inevitably encounter. Most Taiwanese immigrants WHO IMMIGRATE to the United States have a hard time learning English because of their background s . In Taiwan, because English is rarely used, so most people have not had any contact with English before coming to the United States. Moreover, English IS totally different from Mandarin or Taiwanese in both grammar and pronunciation, so IT requires a lot of practice for an immigrant to be able to use English well and having HAVE the confidence to speak it. When immigrants arrive here, many of them have to learn English IN WHICH starting with the alphabet . Even EVEN THOUGH they may have had professional skills in their home country. While it is difficult for immigrants to learn English, it IS also hard for them to find to study the language. Immigrants usually start to work within a community WHERE uses the same language as they do because they need to work before they acquire good English skills. At work, they
