ENBUS 102 - Finding Library Resources Objectives: 1. Find books on your topic using Primo 2. Getting books from Laurier Guelph or Waterloo 3. Reviewing your search results Part 1: Finding Books using Primo Primo is a "discovery layer" which provides a one-stop search experience. Primo will search databases like TRELLIS, the combined online catalogue for Guelph/Laurier/Waterloo. In the future, Primo will also be a search interface for selected journal indexes, data sets, e-book packages, and more. Finding books using keyword searching. Some of the basic searching techniques include: •Boolean Operators •Truncation •Phrase Searching •Field Searching •Setting Limits BOOLEAN Operators: AND, OR, NOT. Boolean operators allow you search with different combinations of words and phrases. In Primo the Boolean operators have to be capitalized. •AND - includes all terms/concepts •OR - includes at least one term/concept •NOT - excludes terms/concepts To visualize the effects of the Boolean operations view the Boolean Machine. Truncation or Wildcards:
