Brian Lau English 200 D Andrew McNair 5/08/07 Reading Response #12 So far, the novel seems to be a fun story. I am not sure how the city of London was associated with anarchy and overthrowing the government, but anarchy, religion and self-morals seems to be the main topics in G.K. Chesterton’s “The Man Who Was Thursday.” I think it is a good book with a surprising plot and interesting twists. Although the beginning of the novel was quite confusing at first, it gets a lot better letter on. I think this has been one of the better readings that we have read from the class so far. It was interesting to find when at the secret anarchy meeting we figure out both the main characters in the story both have secrets about them. First, Gregory and Syme both come together as poets to discuss anarchy and Gregory makes Syme swear that he would not tell anybody that he is an anarchist in disguise. Secondly, Syme makes Gregory swear to tell no one that he is a secret police detective
